Mission
CSGGE approached me with a need to refresh their business card to better represent their digital presence and campus initiatives. The previous design included outdated social media icons, such as the old “Twitter” logo, which required updating to the new “X” logo. The goal was to create a modern, functional design that would help promote their department and increase social media engagement on campus.
Contributions
I was tasked with making updates to the existing business card design to better reflect current branding and optimize user experience. Here are the two options I presented:
Option 1
Same layout, New Icon.
In this option, I retained the original design but updated the Twitter icon to the new “X” logo. I also swapped out the PNG/JPEG files for SVG versions of the logos, improving file compression and ensuring that all assets retained their quality without needing additional links for packaging.
Option 2
Redesign + Optimization
For a more refreshed look, I proposed a complete redesign that optimized negative space and made key information more legible. Key updates included:
- Increased font size for readability
- Removed headline text for social platforms, as users are likely to recognize familiar icons without additional labels
- Improved layout of social media icons and handles, ensuring they are well-organized alongside the office location and QR code
This option was selected for production, offering a more modern and clean aesthetic while enhancing functionality.
